چکیده

Pseudo-random testing is popularly used, particularly in Built-In Self Test (BIST) applications. To achieve a desired fault coverage, pseudo-random patterns are often supplemented with few deterministic patterns. When positions of deterministic patterns in the pseudo-random sequence are known a priori, pseudo-random sub-sequences can be chosen such that they cover these deterministic patterns. We call this method of test application, pseudo-deterministic testing. The theory of discrete logarithm has been applied to determine positions of bit-patterns in the pseudo-random sequence generated by a modular form or internal-XOR Linear Feedback Shift Register (LFSR) [5,7]. However, the scheme requires that all the inputs of the combinational logic block (CLB), under test, come from the same LFSR source. This constraint in circuit configuration severely limits its application. In this paper, we propose a practical and cost effective technique for pseudo-deterministic testing. For most part, the problem of circuit configuration has been simplified to one of scan path insertion, by employing LFSR/SR (an arbitrary length shift register driven by a standard form or external-XOR LFSR). To enable the usage of LFSR/SR as a pseudo-deterministic pattern source, we propose a method to determine positions of bit-patterns, at arbitrarily chosen tap configurations, in the LFSR/SR sequence. Embedding Deterministic Patterns in Partial Pseudo-Exhaustive Test

The topic of this thesis is related to testing of very large scale integration circuits. The thesis presents the idea of optimizing mixed-mode built-in self-test (BIST) scheme. Mixed-mode BIST consists of two phases. The first phase is pseudo-random testing or partial pseudo-exhaustive testing (P-PET). For the faults not detected by the first phase, deterministic test patterns are generated and...

Implicational Scaling of Reading Comprehension Construct: Is it Deterministic or Probabilistic?

In English as a Second Language Teaching and Testing situations, it is common to infer about learners’ reading ability based on his or her total score on a reading test. This assumes the unidimensional and reproducible nature of reading items. However, few researches have been conducted to probe the issue through psychometric analyses. In the present study, the IELTS exemplar module C (1994) wa...

An Efficient Mixed-mode Bist Technique

We propose a new built-in self-test (BIST) method based on a combination of a pseudo-random test method with a deterministic test. This enables us to reach a high fault coverage in a short test time and with a low area overhead. The main feature of the method is that there are no memory elements to store the deterministic test patterns; the test patterns are being produced by a transformation o...
